'Jesus Fresh' gunned down in alleged police confrontation in Portmore

A man known to residents as 'Jesus Fresh' was shot dead in Portmore, St Catherine, after allegedly challenging a police team in a gun battle late Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Horace Romaine Dish of Twenty Five Cent Lane, Southboro.

Reports are that around 10:15 p.m., a police team on operation entered the community when Dish was accosted. He is said to have confronted the officers with an illegal firearm. The police opened fire, hitting him.

A Glock P80 pistol fitted with a magazine containing four 9mm rounds was reportedly seized. Dish was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Independent Commission of Investigations is probing the incident.
