The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has clinched victory in the 2025 general election, securing a third consecutive term to govern the country.

The win clears the way for Dr Andrew Holness to be sworn in once again as prime minister.

This marks the 10th general election triumph for the JLP since 1944 and its fourth win in the last five contests, cementing the party's dominance in recent decades. The People's National Party (PNP), which last tasted victory in 2011, now holds nine wins in the nation's electoral history.

The JLP government also campaigned heavily on its record of crime management and economic stewardship. Party leaders highlighted a 43 per cent reduction in murders since the start of the year, crediting focused security measures and community engagement initiatives for the improvement.

Economically, the party boasted that no new taxes had been imposed in the last eight years, while unemployment and poverty levels were at their lowest in recent history, framing the administration as both a stabilising and growth-oriented force for the country.

The election outcome extends Holness' leadership into another term, positioning him as one of the most enduring figures in Jamaica's post-independence political history.
