Man arrested over alleged machete attack on St Catherine councillor

A man has been taken into custody for allegedly attacking the Councillor for the Mount Industry Division in St Catherine, Correl Davis.

Reports are that around 9:15 a.m., Davis went to the community of Gobay, which falls within her division, when the man allegedly pulled a machete on her.

She was reportedly in her car at the time.

An alarm was raised, and the man was subsequently apprehended by the police.

"I heard there was an incident. One party is here, but I am awaiting an official report on the matter," said Superintendent Hopton Nicholson, head of the St Catherine North Police Division.

The man's identity is being withheld pending further investigation.
