Super 6 a banker’s paradise

SATURDAY's Reggae 6 mandatory payout opens at $6.1 million, expected to reach possibly $20 million at off-time, appears laden with bankers from the get-go with IANNAI LINKS at six and a half furlongs.

A $350,000 claim at seven and a half furlongs on June 7, IANNAI LINKS had raced clear of the pack but was caught by fast-closing MAYA and CASUAL PEACH close home.

Returning a furlong shorter, IANNAI LINKS only has DODGE THIS LINK to fear, which should be enough back-up for bettors afraid to start with a banker.

Take no chances with the second event for $1m claimers. Carry a battery of possibilities, WAYNE'S PRINCESS, NATURAL DANCER, LIFE IS LIFE, SHE'S MYHEDGEFUND, BURNING VALOR and BUTTERCUP.

After the second, it should be bankers' paradise with LUCY IN THE SKY, BRENDA BOY, SILVER FOX and YOU'RE MY SWEETIE, a bold bet if there was ever one to end August on a winning note.

Last Saturday, Anthony Nunes' four-timer, starting with a hat-trick, races four through six, followed by ENTHUSIASM's mild 6-1 upset in the eighth, impacted both the Reggae 6 and Twilight 6.

Nunes' hat-trick - even-money favourite FERNANDO, PLATINUM PRINCESS at odds of 5-2 and 3-5 favourite, UNCAPTURED EMPRESS - closed a cheap Reggae 6 for a $3,601 payout.

Expect Nunes' form to continue with SUPREMASI, mature claiming rider Romario Spencer aboard, in Saturday's O & S Tack Room Trophy at a mile.

Nunes using Spencer is nothing new, having called on him as a nine-pound claimer back in 2021 to partner his top handicapper, Toona Ciliata, who was allotted 130lb in the Eileen Cliggott Memorial, which he won in a dogged display to beat GOD OF LOVE.

SUPREMASI, caught by imported GIRVANO at seven furlongs on June 29, will carry 117lb, getting four pounds from FLORINDIA and nine pounds from back-to-form SUPER ALEX.

The form-factor is GIRVANO, who beat SUPER ALEX by three lengths on August 6 and returned to beat stablemate and Mouttet Mile winner, FUNCAANDUN, in last Saturday's Distinctly Irish, closing from off the pace as a flyweight with 101lb.

Allowing SUPREMASI seven pounds on June 29, GIRVANO had to be ridden to the board to beat the local-bred by a short head at seven furlongs.

FLORINDIA, who lost a five-furlong round sprint to fellow importee, SUPERNATURAL POWER, after beating native ZULU WARRIOR at six furlongs, will allow SUPREMASI four pounds. Having not gone beyond six furlongs in three starts locally, FLORINDIA will find the closing stages taxing with the likes of ANTARCTICA for company on the lead.

SUPREMASI's biggest threat should be Philip Feanny's imported MAGNIFICENT FORCE, who, though finishing seventh behind GIRVANO and SUPER ALEX at seven and a half furlongs on August 6, was reporting off a two-month break, but had progressed well in the stretch run to be a length and a quarter off the lead a furlong out before weakening.
