Men use plastic bottle to rob ex-cop
Two men who allegedly held up an ex-cop and robbed him of his Huawei cellular phone were dragged before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court last Friday.
One of the men, 22-year-old Kemar Jones, pleaded guilty to the charge of larceny from the person and assault, and was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment.
He is a repeat offender having previously served 12 months for a similar crime.
The other accused, Clifford Campbell, pleaded not guilty to both offences and had his bail extended until November 6 for trial.
The court heard that on the day in question, the two men allegedly attacked the ex-cop with a bottled substance, threatening to throw the contents on him. They took his phone and ran.
They were tracked down by the former policeman and cornered, where they were held.
The court also heard that the ex-cop had to discharge his firearm in the process and Campbell was shot and injured.
A fingerprint order was made against Campbell.
