Having lost the last two Jamaica Women's Premier League (JWPL) finals to Frazsiers Whip, Cavalier head coach Everdean Scarlett is hoping third time will be the charm as they prepare for Saturday's finale.

Cavalier booked a spot in their third successive JWPL final when they got the better of Arnett Gardens 4-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

They will face off against defending champions Frazsiers Whip in the final, a very familiar rival.

Speaking after his team's semi-finals win, Scarlett said the goal is to go one step further and finally claim the elusive JWPL crown.

"We know that Frazsiers Whip is the team that we'll meet in the finals and we know they are a pretty tough team," he said.

"But at the end of the day we just have to do what we have to do to get over the hump. But you can always expect great things from my team come next week."

Despite his team's poor record against the defending champions, Scarlett is optimistic they have what it takes to dethrone Frazsiers Whip.

In their two meetings this season, Cavalier were defeated 6-2 and 2-1 by Frazsiers Whip, along with a 4-0 defeat in last season's finals.

However, these experiences have shown Scarlett what his team will need to do to in order to achieve their goal of lifting the title.

"First we must give God thanks for making it to another final," he said.

"Frazsiers Whip is the favourite but we know what we have to do to stop them from playing. We have to try and stay behind the ball and not to concede early to keep ourselves in the game. I think going into the final we stand a pretty good chance against them."

Meanwhile, Frazsiers Whip's head coach Courtney Dowdie says player rotation will play a key role in their ambitions to defend their JWPL title.

Frazsiers Whip booked their place in the JWPL final after dismissing Los Perfectos 7-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

Speaking after his team's victory over Los Perfectos over the weekend, Dowdie said player rotation has become an important aspect of his preparations throughout the knockout rounds.

This comes as the team will be missing a few of its players as they take up opportunities through scholarships overseas.

"We did some rotations because the aim was to just come out here and win," Dowdie said.

"We changed around the team a whole lot just to see what we have because there are persons leaving for scholarships. So the aim was to see how we could introduce some players, give them some game time and I think it worked out for us."

One such player who has left the team is Jamaican international Shaniel Buckley, who returned to Daytona State College in the United States.

Buckley was a major part of the team's attacking prowess, scoring 12 goals throughout the season.

The JWPL final is set for the Ashenheim Stadium at Jamaica College on August 9, with kick-off set for 7 p.m.

The third-place match will open the double-header at the venue, as Los Perfectos will take on Arnett Gardens at 4 p.m.
