Police have released the identities of the four men who were shot and killed during what lawmen say was an armed confrontation along the Linstead By Pass in St Catherine last Wednesday night.

Those killed are 27 year old Kemar Williams, otherwise called Johnny, of Verma Road, 19 year old Kemar Tucker of Penwood Road, 40 year old labourer Nicholas Singh, and 34 year old shopkeeper Dane Lewis.

According to the police, the men were travelling in a Kia motorcar about 9:30 p.m. when they were intercepted near the Rosemount roundabout. Lawmen say the group matched the description of suspects involved in the murder of St Catherine businessman Horace Goudie Crossman in Guys Hill earlier that day.

Police reported that as they attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants allegedly opened fire. A shootout followed and the four were shot. One man reportedly escaped.

Two illegal guns were recovered from the scene.

The Independent Commission of Investigations and the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau are probing the incident.
