Witness says he recorded gangsters on three phones

November 05, 2021

The ex- member of the One Don Gang testified in court yesterday that the gang's reputed leader, Andre 'Blackman' Bryan, had paid for one of the three Android phones that he (the witness) used to secretly record conversations with gang members for the police.

The prosecution witness testified in the Home Circuit Court via video link that he used a call recording application to record Bryan and other key gang members including his brother Kevaugh Green, a gangster called 'City Puss', and the lone female defendant Stephanie Christie.

"Each time I get a call I save it and I also send it via WhatsApp to [Mr ....]," he recalled.

The witness told the court that he was not sure of the exact date when he collected the first phone from the police officer whom he had given statements to on the gang's activities but it was between 2018-2019. He said two of the phones were give to him by that officer as they were replaced when the memory became full.

Pertaining to the third phone, he said he told Bryan that he was not hearing him well as his phone was not working and Bryan told him that he was going to tell Rell [defendant Roel Taylor] to give him a phone. He said Bryan later called him and told him to meet Taylor and he collected a Samsung J3 phone.

According to the witness, after he handed over the phone, he later went to the police and identified the different voices on each recording. He also testified that transcripts of the recordings were made and he signed the documents.

The witness, who has been testifying for a week, also told the court that he had taken the police to a number of crime scenes where the gang had carried out hits, places where they had buried bodies, and some of the gang members' homes. The witness also detailed five murders which were allegedly carried out by the alleged gangsters on Bryan's orders. These included two double murders. In one of them, a couple was killed in a murder-arson, while in the other, two men were shot to death despite pleading for their lives. A woman was also killed. The trial will resume on Monday.
