16-y-o dies from COVID as Jamaica records seven deaths and 239 new cases
A 16-year-old female from Kingston and St Andrew is among seven of the latest Jamaicans to have died from from COVID-19 pushing the death tally to 432.
The other deceased are:
- An 83-year-old male from Manchester
- An 84-year- old male from KSA
- A 75-year-old male from KSA
- A 72-year-old female from Westmoreland
- A 61-year-old male from Trelawny
- A 78-year-old female from KSA
Two of the deaths were previously classified as under investigation.
Meanwhile, of the 1,819 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 239 returned positive results, increasing the total confirmed cases to 23,838 with 9,558 active.
Of the new cases, 104 are males and 135 are females, with ages ranging from 5 months to 101 years.
St Ann recorded the most new cases with 67, followed by Kingston and St Andrew with 61.
Westmoreland was the only parish not record a case.
Some 260 patients are hospitalised with 27 being moderately ill and 25 critical.
In the meantime 123 more persons have recovered, bringing that total to 13,625.
According to the Ministry of Health, three persons are in government quarantine, while 21,486 are quarantined at home.
