Cokehead allegedly breaks into MP's office

Police are searching for a drug addict who is believed to be responsible for a break-in at the office of Victor Wright, the member of parliament for Northern Trelawny.

The office, which is located on Newton Street in Falmouth, was broken into early Sunday morning.

"Around 2 a.m., I was awakened by a crashing sound. I thought it was a car dropping into a pothole. Later, I heard rustling, then an explosion in the office. I went to look and saw him running out of the office with a fan," an eyewitness said.

Tameika Sinclair, the MP's secretary, said that the explosion was caused by the thief attempting to forcibly remove the TV, which was mounted on a wall.

Wright, who was at a party retreat where the matter of crime was being discussed, said the TV was recently installed.

"It was only two weeks ago that I installed the TV. It was to provide entertainment for residents who visit the office and had to wait," he said.

Wright said the TV is valued at $50,000 and the fan has a $6,000 value.
