While acknowledging that her philanthropic work has not gone unseen, and she is often encouraged to enter the political arena, dancehall artiste D'Angel has ruled out running for councillor or member of parliament (MP).

She, however, stated that she would appreciate the support from the government towards her Angel's Foundation Charity.

"Persons are always calling for me to get a grant or some financial support to help with my charity. A government work mi a do fi true and that is why everybody a say I must be MP and so on, because I am literally helping the country which is a government work. I would appreciate the support from the government," she said. Last Saturday, the artiste hosted her ninth annual back-to-school treat at the Spanish Town Municipal Park. She said that she has been in the recording studio working on her upcoming album, but felt that she had to honour her commitment.

"It was really great and I have people who jumped on board with me like the Sanmerna Foundation, Her Flow and Shane Supermarket. I am doing my album now so it was very strenuous on me to even plan it. The children and parents look forward to this treat for the past nine years so I just couldn't disappoint. I am someone with a big heart so I just had to do it as persons are depending on me," she said.

The singjay said that this year, the event catered to more than 200 children, adding that her son, Marco Dean Davis, has been her right hand man throughout the entire process.

"It is always just a joy to see the happiness on the children's faces and to know that I can assist these parents out there. Children live what they learn, and Marco sees the kind of mother that I am so it reflects on him. Just like how my mom encourages me to give back from a tender age, it is just something that is passed on. Marco Dean is very generous and respectful and he loves people. Those things are very important in the upbringing of a child," D Angel said.

In the meantime, D'Angel said that she continues to work on several upcoming musical projects with fellow entertainer Khago.
